Location is not the only consideration for a hotel, but it helps! With that in mind, the Airport Hilton In Tampa, FL was one of those hotels that did not solely rely on the location to make customers feel welcome. I found lots to be thankful for at this hotel, but here are the three top reasons to go back to this hotel next time I go see a Tampa Bay Buccaneers game.
Number One: The staff is dedicated to your satisfaction! From the time you walk in the door, the management and staff ask you how they can make your stay more comfortable. Each person wears a "Whatever It Takes" button to show that they are willing to do that to make you happy!
The hotel was not cheap by any means, they were pricier than most of the hotels in the area, but they were working hard to make it the best hotel in the area. When we asked for a refrigerator, they found one for us and had it in the room and plugged in before we even realized it. They didn't even charge us for it and that impressed me a lot.
Number Two: Proximity to all the major attractions near the airport in Tampa makes it a hub for doing things in the area. They have a shuttle that takes you to the best restaurants, the mall and the airport for no charge. This makes you mobile, and you don't have to bring a vehicle. I didn't ask if they would drop us off at Raymond James Stadium, where the Buccaneers play, but they are close enough that a short walk from the corner where the shuttle does go, would take 10 minutes to get to the stadium.
The mall - which is a 5 minute shuttle drive - is huge and contains restaurants like Cheesecake Factory, a Starbucks, and some of the most exotic stores I have ever seen! We were in the mall after they were closed, but we saw diamond stores, Swarovski Crystal, and many other high end shops. The shoppers in our party wanted to come back in the morning to spend some money, but the guys managed to distract them.
The staff had listings of the different stores and restaurants as well as a map to help us get around while walking. Having everything so close is great, because walking home after a delicious meal makes the experience that much better as you talk with your friends on the way back to the hotel. But all you have to do is call the number on the map and the shuttle can be there in 10 to 15 minutes to get you back to the hotel.
Pricing was good, not the best, but also not the most expensive. The amenities were top notch, and the only problems I had were the toilet having a broken handle (I had to jiggle it to get it to stop filling) the Internet was kind of pricey at $10 per day for a slow connection and the TV remote would not turn on the TV or turn it off.
Number Three: The beds were so comfortable that I now have trouble sleeping at home. I was wondering if I could stuff the mattress covers into my suitcase, but alas, they were way too think! It felt like they had sheepskins under there, and where I usually felt numb after laying on one side for too long, on these beds I found myself sleeping through the entire night on one side without a problem.
Being rested in the morning really made it easy to get busy at the seminar I was attending, and even though I had complaints about the amenities for conferences, I had slept so well that my mind skipped over those when I took notes for this article. Interesting to be wowed by the comfort of the bed when so many other great things are making this hotel a hidden gem among the jewelry of the Tampa Bay Hotel scene.
When you plan your next trip, give the Tampa Airport Hilton a serious look if you want great dining minutes away, a world class football stadium close by and people who do whatever it takes to make your stay a great one! Getting a good night's sleep will be an added benefit!  By Micheal Savoie
